Disney’s Ms. Marvel series has been postponed to 2022
Since the announcement of the new Marvel series coming to Disney +, everyone has been waiting for any information we can get our hands on while waiting for the release. One of these series is Ms. Marvel and while we don’t have a lot of material to look at, we could be a little closer to knowing the launch date.
Recently, a rumor circulated on social media suggesting that the series will air in early 2022. Variety’s Adam B. Vary has since announced that he has confirmed that Ms. Marvel is pushed back to next year, but no official release date has yet been named beyond that date. Ms. Marvel is ready to see her teenage heroine Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani, hit the screen.
We know this new series is a critical part of the MCU’s plan to differentiate Ms. Marvel from Captain Marvel ahead of The Marvels’ theatrical release in November 2022. Try saying that ten times faster. This distinction is important because this film will feature the Carol Danvers version of Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson, as well as Ms. Marvel of Vellani, and the return of the now overpowered Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris of WandaVision). Who incidentally had the code name of Captain Marvel in the comics. So the series has a lot to do not only to connect the dots, but also to give us the backstory for the main characters.
The original rumor comes from the Twitter account of Amit Chaudhari, a graphic designer who regularly posts inside information about big name movies and TV productions such as Ms. Marvel. In his Twitter post, he wrote:
“Audience Ms. Marvel the show may be looking for a February 2022 release … let’s see if there’s an official announcement anytime soon. “It wasn’t immediately verifiable, however, it does match some of the information fans already had. concerning the arrival window of the show. Ms. Marvel fans have received the sad news that the series will not air in 2021 as originally planned, some have speculated that the series could move in early 2022 as an extension of the Disney + series Hawk Eye, which begins its six-episode series in November.
Marvel and Disney like to keep things under lock and key until they’re one hundred percent ready to divulge the information they would like you to have. However, with all of the changes and delays over the past year, they are undoubtedly ready to take out the Marvel machine and dive into the new phase of shows and movies. We have already seen Black Widow, Loki, Falcon and Winter Soldier, Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings and What if…?. As it stands, Shang-Chi has dominated the box office for weeks. We also have the Spider-Man: No Path Home and Eternals made their way to the big screen this year. It looks like Marvel is gearing up for the next wave of shows and a new phase, so that fits the plans.
What do you think? Are you looking forward to the new series? This news comes to us from Variety.
