Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Reports Scarlet Witch Shares Major Role

As it turns out, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness can split a significant amount of screen time between the film’s two main characters. While the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) was on the film’s roster of cast members the second the project was first announced, a new report suggests the film is essentially giving her as much screen time as the eponymous wizard.

The latest comes from insider Daniel Richtman, who says he’s heard the movie is “as much about Wanda as it is Strange.” Additionally, the insider adds that the character has nearly the same amount of screen time as main character Benedict Cumberbatch.

Given that Olsen played a major role in the marketing of the film, none of the claims are too surprising, other than the fact that Marvel Studios chose to call him a strange doctor movie instead of taking advantage of Scarlet Witch’s rise in popularity. In both cases, Multiverse director Sam Raimi can’t wait for fans to see the interactions between the two main characters.

“Wow. This is a question I’ve been asking kids on the playground since third grade. Who’s stronger, this character or that one? Well, I think Wanda’s magic, from the Marvel tradition, is more powerful than almost any other character in this photo, but Doctor Strange has the knowledge of the mystical arts that Wanda does not have, and he has the help of Kamar-Taj,” Raimi previously told Fandango. “If you were to pit them against each other, different altered versions of themselves…there could be a Doctor Strange more powerful than our Wanda. Or there could be a Wanda out there who is more powerful than our Wanda here. So, because of these modified versions, everything is a mixture of possibilities.”

Disney’s official synopsis for the film can be found below.

“To restore a world where everything is changing, Strange enlists the help of his ally Wong, the Sorcerer Supreme, and the Avengers’ most powerful Scarlet Witch, Wanda. But a terrible threat looms over humanity and the entire universe. which can no longer be done by their power alone.Even more surprisingly, the universe’s greatest threat looks exactly like Doctor Strange.
