Star Trek Joins the NFT Galaxy with New Digital Collectibles from VeVe • The Pop Insider
Space may have been “the last frontier,” but the Star Trek franchise is still exploring new mediums. The following ? The world of non-fungible tokens (NFT).
After a month filled with official Marvel releases, digital collectibles maker VeVe has another major pop culture collection set to unveil: Star Trek. Today, the company announced that it has partnered with this iconic sci-fi franchise to launch the first set of ships and items from Star Trek: The Next Generation like NFT.
This new collection will be released, rightly so, tomorrow – aka Star Trek Day! Available from 8:00 a.m. PT, the drop will feature two iconic Star Trek ships: the USS Enterprise-D and the Borg Cube. These two collectibles will be available in two different scales, 1: 1000 (common) and 1: 1 (rare).
For the Borg Cube, there will be 9,888 common versions at $ 40 and 6,888 rare versions at $ 110. Up to 8,888 Trekkies can snatch a common USS Enterprise-D for $ 60, but only 5,888 can get the larger size for $ 130.
Both ships will be available for purchase exclusively in the VeVe application. After purchasing the digital collectibles, fans can view them using augmented reality which is why these 1: 1 scale versions are so cool. Who wouldn’t want to see a full-size Borg cube in their backyard?
