Tom Cruise’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness rumor has taken a new turn
The Tom Cruise Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness cameo rumor is similar to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield leaks that preceded Spider-Man: No Coming Home. We keep seeing reports that Tom Cruise will have a role in the MCU. But contrary to Maguire and Garfield’s rumors that provided conclusive evidence that former Spider-Man actors would appear in the new movie, there’s no firm evidence that Cruise will actually appear in the new Doctor Strange movie.
That being said, we happen to have a brand new statement that says Tom Cruise will be appearing in Multiverse of Madness. And this time, the source is said to be very reliable. Before diving into this new report, I warn you that big spoilers could follow.
We’ve already explained several times why Tom Cruise’s cameo is so exciting for Doctor Strange 2. Simply put, he’s the actor Marvel originally wanted to play Iron Man. We got Robert Downey Jr. instead, and the rest is history. RDJ didn’t just deliver a great Iron Man that helped the MCU become the success it is today.
Then Iron Man died.
With Multiverse of Madness, Marvel has the chance to give fans all kinds of eye candy. This is where the Tom Cruise rumor comes in. The Multiverse allows Marvel to bring Iron Man back into the fold without ruining his legacy. That’s because it could be Tom Cruise appearing in the Iron Armor, not RDJ. At least that’s what some of the Doctor Strange 2 cameo leaks there claimed.
But then the Tom Cruise rumors got complicated. We’ve seen reports saying the actor wasn’t in the movie at all. We then saw leaks saying Tom Cruise was coming to the MCU, but he might not show up in Multiverse of Madness. Others said the actor might not even be playing Iron Man, but rather a different superhero.
New Tom Cruise Multiverse of Madness rumors
What’s great about this back and forth is that it keeps fans who love MCU spoilers on their toes. The surprise is not completely spoiled, as was the case with No coming home. Maguire and Garfield’s secret was spoiled months before the premiere, with massive evidence to back it up. Almost no one was surprised when the two former Spider-Men returned in the new movie from Marvel and Sony.
Now is the time to check out the latest claims that Tom Cruise made an appearance in Multiverse of Madness.
Reliable sources told Nick Santos to ThisHashtagShow than Tom Cruise will appear in Doctor Strange 2. It should be noted that Santos has shared specific information in the past about unreleased Marvel movies.
However, it seems that Multiverse of Madness Screen time will be limited for the actor. It’s a “glorified cameo” at best, according to Santos.
Does that mean we’re getting the Tom Cruise version of Iron Man that we’ve been dying to see for decades? Not exactly.
The insider also noted in another tweet that Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) wasn’t in the movie.
We’ve seen multiple reports claiming that Ryan Reynolds will be making an appearance in Doctor Strange 2 as Merc with a Mouth, but apparently that’s not the case.
In the same tweet, however, Santos referred to Tom Cruise as “Iron Cruise”.
It’s not necessarily Iron Man that he could be referring to. Cruise could be playing a variation of Iron Monger, as another insider speculated a few days ago. This is something to keep in mind before the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premiere as you search for Tom Cruise in the film.
What is certain is that Marvel has shown us a universe where Iron Man’s Ultron drones are at the service of superheroes. Even if it means capturing Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch). Some version of Iron Man must almost certainly exist in this kind of world, since he controls these drones in the comics.
