Tom Holland not reprising his role as Peter Parker in the Disney+ series “Spider-Man: Freshman Year”
Last I heard, Tom Holland had yet to reach a deal to reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in any future Sony/Marvel Studios productions. While it normally takes a while to iron out contract negotiations, it’s been over 6 months since Spider-Man: No Way Home hit theaters. If the lack of an update from Marvel or the usually loose-lipped Holland isn’t enough to make fans nervous about the character’s future (again), well, this news might.
A new report from The Illuminerdi alleges that the actor is not set to reprise his role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Freshman Year prequel animated series. Now, it’s important to note that Holland didn’t return to voice the character in Marvel’s What if…? That is. It’s very possible that Holland is too busy to be involved again, but the fact that he’s not under contract this time around makes his absence from the project all the more suspicious.

Considering this is the first news we’ve gotten on the show since it was announced on Disney+’s final day, it’s troubling and might make fans less excited for the show – I mean I’m definitely not as excited. than before.
Still, since it hasn’t been confirmed by Marvel, Sony, or any other big business, we readers take this news with a grain of salt.
Could Marvel wait for this Saturday’s panel at Comic-Con or September D23 to make the announcement? That remains to be seen. As always, we’ll continue to keep our ears open and provide any updates as they become available.
